About the Research Unit

The Research Unit started in 2003 with only few researchers employed. At the moment we have 7 PhD Students, 2 Senior Researchers, 3 Research Year Students, some Research Assistants, Technical Staff and Administrative Staff. The unit is lead by Professor MD DMSc Jørgen Feldbæk Nielsen.

The main research areas in the Research Unit at Hammel Neurorehabilitation and Research Centre are motor control/rehabilitation and cognitive science/rehabilitation.


We have a strong tradition for collaboration across Departments at the Aarhus University Hospital including Department of Neurology and Center of Functionally Integrative Neuroscience (CFIN) a centre of the Danish National Research Foundation.We also have a strong collaboration with Center for Sensory-Motor Interaction (SMI) at Aalborg University which has a strong tradition in the study of basic and clinical aspects of human sensory-motor interaction and to develop new diagnostic and therapeutic methods.
